3. Should I post my replies to a message above or below the senders message?

The alt.fan.landrover newsgroup is a very friendly place and it is rare for people to take exception to your posting style. However newsgroup etiquette does request that replies are posted below the original text (bottom posting).

4. How should I post messages? Plain text or HTML?

There is absolutely no point in using HTML, the alt.fan.newsgroup is a non-binary newsgroup (no pictures etc.) so there is no benefit in using HTML posting. Also HTML as a method of posting to a newsgroup is inefficient in bandwidth and is officially non-compliant with the relevant internet "standards".
